Square App: Is It Right for Your Small Business?

What is it? Square is a smart phone application and card reader combination. The free account allows you to key in credit card numbers on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Square also mails you a free card reader that plugs into the headphone jack of your device. It allows anyone – seriously, anyone – to accept credit cards from anywhere.

How do you get started? You simply sign up for an account online or by downloading the application to your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone. Once you make an account, you’ll be required to enter your social security number, U.S. based bank account, date of birth, and mailing address. You can immediately begin accepting credit cards by keying in the card number. The company will ship you a card reader in 2 to 5 days.

How to Fix a Hole in the Bucket – a RARE Business Book Review

If you closely follow this blog, you have probably noticed a name of Adrian Swinscoe popping up every now and then. It is mainly due to the fact that I find Adrian, and his approach to business as presented in his blog and the book I will tell you more about today to be one of the most inspiring ones these days.

I can’t tell how many business related books are being published every year. I know that I read only a small portion of them (and I read a book a week) but one thing I am sure of, there aren’t many that are original and present new ideas, or at least modernize some existing ideas to suit the times we live in today.

Most business books I receive are pretty much boring. They speak of the same things over and over again and it seems that the sole reason they have been published was to spread the authors name (usually a biz coach) further.

That’s why I was so pleased when I received Adrians new book, RARE Business. The book is like a breath of fresh air after reading for endless time about sales funnels and how the marketing “really works”.

Adrians ideas seem to be coming from a certain dream, or a kind of a world he is craving for. A world where all companies take care of their existing customers as well as the new ones, where clients trust businesses and value the ones providing good experience and most importantly where business owners and their staff truly care about their customers.

And I am sure you will agree, all of this is what we don’t have the abundance of today.

Build a Prospects List with PopUp Domination

Over the past few weeks I talked at length about using blogs to market your business and I will continue to do so over the coming weeks. However, there is one particular aspect of business blogging that I want to discuss today.

Building a prospects list through your blog.

Everyday people visit your site and no matter how many or few of them there are, some of them are interested in your services. The same happens with your blog which gives you even better chance to communicate directly your visitors (we discussed this in the first post of the business blogging series).

You can present yourself to them, you can answer their questions or write helpful advice about problems they may have in relation to what you offer. In short, you can build an image of yourself and make a lasting first impression.

It is all great, however, unless those people either contact you themselves or you find a way to initiate a business relationship building process with them, all your efforts go for nothing.
